Turkey implements new tax reporting for digital platforms

The Turkish Ministry of Treasury and Finance has implemented a new tax regulation aimed at increasing oversight of digital economic activities. Effective as of September 5, 2026, the amendment to the Tax Procedure Law expands the reporting obligations for various digital service providers to prevent tax loss and unregistered economic activity.

Under the new rules, digital platforms—including e-commerce sites, social media networks, classified ad sites, content providers, and hosting services—must report specific data to the Revenue Administration on a monthly basis. This data includes the URL of the advertisement, the identity of the advertiser (name, surname, or company title), and identification numbers such as T.C. identity numbers or tax identification numbers.

The scope of the regulation covers the sale and rental of real estate, vehicles, goods, and various services. Platforms are also required to collect and store information regarding users' commercial activities and must provide this data to tax authorities upon request. The regulation aims to bring a wider range of digital transactions, including advertising and rental activities, under the tax security umbrella.
