Turkey expands e-Devlet services and digital tax oversight

Overview

In late July 2026, Turkey rolled out new e-Devlet tools to boost financial transparency. The Ministry of Trade portal allows individuals to view commercial enterprises where they serve as owners or representatives and includes a feature to block unauthorized ID use in company registrations. Technical stability has been a recurring issue for the digital infrastructure. On 4 August, users reported slower login times and errors, which officials attributed to high traffic and upgrades rather than a cyber-attack. The Social Security Institution also added a retirement-calculator feature to e-Devlet on this date. On 25 August, the platform experienced further technical difficulties, including slow loading times and identity authentication delays, though official causes for the latest disruptions were still awaited. On 30 August, the Ministry of Treasury and Finance expanded e-Devlet services to include digital rental contracts. Effective 5 September 2026, a new amendment to the Tax Procedure Law expanded tax oversight to digital economic activities. Digital platforms—including e-commerce sites, social media networks, classified ad sites, content providers, and hosting services—must now report monthly data to the Revenue Administration.
