Turkey export index rises, trade balance hits 90.1 in April
Turkey's statistical institute (TÜİK) released its April 2026 foreign trade indexes. The export unit‑value index increased 13.7% year‑on‑year, with the fuel category showing the largest rise at 49.1%. Export quantity index grew 7.6%, led by raw materials (18.1%), manufacturing (10.8%) and food groups (9.1%).
On the import side, the unit‑value index rose 11.3% while the quantity index fell 7.3%, affected by lower volumes in manufacturing and fuel. The external trade balance index – the ratio of export to import unit‑value indexes – climbed from 88.2 in April 2025 to 90.1 in April 2026, indicating an improved price advantage for Turkish trade.
