Turkey fines businesses after price and hygiene inspections in Eskişehir and Şanlıurfa

In June 2026 Turkish trade authorities carried out extensive inspections in two locations. In Eskişehir, the provincial Trade Directorate examined 37 firms and roughly 1.68 million products for pricing label compliance, cash‑register matches and consumer‑law violations. The audits resulted in administrative fines totalling 143 million Turkish lira, and a separate probe of eight firms over suspected price hikes examined 40 products for possible misconduct.

Around the same period, a joint operation by the provincial Culture and Tourism Directorate, municipal police, gendarmerie and the Trade Directorate inspected food outlets, hotels and guesthouses near Şanlıurfa’s Balıklıgöl. Twelve establishments were found to breach hygiene standards or store spoiled goods and were fined about 700 thousand Turkish lira. Additional sanctions were applied to several venues lacking proper licences, and five operators without menu documentation faced further penalties.
