Turkey finishes Atikhisar Dam upgrades amid falling Ankara reservoir levels

The State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) announced the completion of extensive renovation work at the Atikhisar Dam in Çanakkale after the reservoir reached full capacity and overflowed in February. The upgrades included new air‑release systems and replacement of a 220‑metre, 1.4‑metre‑diameter steel pipe, enhancing the dam’s operational safety.

Separately, the Ankara Water and Sewerage Administration (ASKİ) reported that the city’s reservoirs fell to a total storage level of 46.69% on 10 July 2026, a slight 0.11‑point decline from the previous day. Active usable storage stood at 40.48%. Daily water delivery to the capital reached about 1.6 million cubic metres, sourced mainly from the Çamlıdere, Kurtboğazı and Kesikköprü dams and the İvedik water‑treatment plant.
