Turkey finishes disaster housing project in Gaziantep's İslahiye

The Turkish Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change posted images showing the completion of disaster‑relief housing in the İslahiye district of Gaziantep. A total of 31,053 independent units – including 25,237 homes, 4,463 village houses and 1,353 workplaces – have been finished and handed over to residents.

These deliveries are part of the broader reconstruction effort launched after the 6 February 2023 earthquakes that struck Kahramanmaraş and surrounding provinces. Across 11 affected provinces, the public‑housing agencies TOKİ, the Urban Transformation Directorate, Emlak Konut GYO and the General Directorate of Construction have built 455,357 independent units – 367,995 homes, 65,672 village houses and 21,690 workplaces – on 174 sites and 3,481 construction yards.

The completed units in İslahiye now provide permanent, safe accommodation for earthquake‑affected families, marking a significant milestone in Turkey’s two‑year rebuilding programme.
