Turkey forecasts strong weekend rains for Istanbul and 56 other cities

The Turkish State Meteorological Service (AKOM) issued a warning for Istanbul, noting a temperature drop of 3‑5 °C on Saturday with thunderstorms and 5‑12 kg m⁻² of rain expected. Temperatures are forecast to fall to a low of 17 °C and a high of 25 °C, after which sunny conditions should return on Sunday.

Meteorology General Directorate (MGM) released a map showing that 57 Turkish cities will experience heavy rain on the June 13‑14 weekend. The forecast includes intense thunderstorms, possible local flooding, hail and strong winds of 40‑60 km/h, especially in Central Anatolia, the western Black Sea region and interior parts of the Aegean. Cities listed include Istanbul, Ankara, İzmir, Bursa, Antalya and many others. The cooler, wet conditions are expected to be temporary, with temperatures rising again from Monday onward.
