Turkey economy grows 2.3% in Q2 2026

Turkey's economy grew by 2.3% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, according to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK). On a quarter-on-quarter basis, the economy expanded by 1.1%.

The growth was driven largely by a strong 13.3% increase in the agriculture, forestry, and fishing sector, as well as an 8.6% rise in information and communication activities. The industrial sector also saw a 2.4% increase. Conversely, the construction sector contracted by 1.9%, marking its first decline in 14 quarters.

At current prices, GDP rose by 36% year-on-year to reach 19.869 trillion TL, which equates to approximately 438.3 billion USD for the quarter. The annualized national income has exceeded the 1.7 trillion dollar threshold.

Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek noted that despite geopolitical tensions and rising commodity prices, the current account deficit remained sustainable at 38.9 billion dollars, representing 2.3% of the national income. Household final consumption expenditure increased by 3.5% during this period.
