Turkey forest fires scorch 10 hectares in Kocaeli, 5 dunams in Gaziantep
A forest fire broke out in the Dilovası district of Kocaeli Province, spreading quickly across a 10‑hectare wooded area. Local residents alerted emergency services, prompting the deployment of fire brigades, forest officials, police, gendarmerie and a firefighting helicopter. The blaze was brought under control after coordinated ground and aerial operations, and cooling work continued. Kocaeli MP Cemil Yaman, District Governor Resul Çelik and Mayor Ramazan Ömeroğlu confirmed the extent of the damage.
In Gaziantep Province, a separate fire ignited in Boğaziçi Mahallesi of the İslahiye district. The incident was reported to the 112 emergency number, leading to the dispatch of forest service vehicles, water trucks and a helicopter. After about an hour of combined ground and aerial effort, the fire was contained, with officials noting that roughly 5 dunams of forest were damaged.
