Turkey Fund Coordination Board meets to discuss repayment schedules

The Fund Coordination Board, chaired by Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, held its second meeting to address the ongoing crisis in the fund market. The meeting focused on calculating net investment amounts for investors involved in fund liquidations and establishing a repayment schedule following decisions made by the Capital Markets Board (SPK) on September 30, 2026.

In response to the crisis, which began when several portfolio management companies struggled to meet investor withdrawal requests, the SPK ordered the liquidation of 131 funds belonging to seven companies. This process affects approximately 455,758 individual investors. The authorities noted that certain funds exhibited price movements that could not be explained by economic realities or the fundamental financial size of the companies.

Additionally, the Board discussed a draft proposal to amend the Capital Markets Law. Instructions have been issued to relevant institutions to finalize the draft. Officials emphasized that all regulations and solutions are being developed with the aim of ensuring fairness and justice without imposing any additional burden on citizens.
