Turkey heat wave eases as rain expected, temperatures to drop across regions

A heat wave affecting much of Turkey, especially the southeast, has pushed temperatures above 40 °C in provinces such as Şırnak, Mardin, Şanlıurfa and Diyarbakır. Meteorologists warned that the extreme heat would continue in 19 provinces. A new rain system moving in from the Balkans is forecast to bring showers to the north and west, leading to a noticeable cooling in the Marmara region and Istanbul, where temperatures are expected to fall to 27‑28 °C over the weekend.

In central and western Turkey, Eskişehir will see partly cloudy conditions with temperatures ranging from 26 °C in the morning to a peak of 29 °C around noon. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are predicted for several districts, including the western parts of the province, while winds are expected to strengthen later in the day.
