Turkey hosts 2026 European Modern Pentathlon Championships in Istanbul

From 3 to 9 August 2026, Istanbul will host the European Senior Modern Pentathlon Championships at the Burhan Felek Sports Complex. The event features 153 athletes – 67 women and 86 men – from 22 nations competing in fencing, obstacle course, swimming and laser‑run, both individually and in team formats.

It is the first time Turkey has hosted the senior European championship in modern pentathlon. The Turkey Modern Pentathlon Federation, led by President Serhat Aydın, highlighted the significance for Turkish sport. Star athlete İlke Özyüksel, a multiple‑time world‑cup medalist, will seek her first European title on home soil.
