Turkey hosts GO! GLOBAL Summit to boost tech investment
The third GO! GLOBAL Türkiye Summit is currently taking place in Istanbul, bringing together global investors, technology leaders, and entrepreneurs to discuss innovation and international expansion. The event is organized by the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Türkiye (DEIK) through its Türkiye-US Business Council (TAIK) Digital Working Group, in collaboration with Endeavor Türkiye.
Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacir announced that Turkey aims to encourage the establishment of 100,000 startups by 2030 and seeks to increase the total valuation of Turkish unicorns, known as ‘Turcorns’, to $100 billion. He highlighted that Turkey's annual R&D spending has grown from $1.2 billion to approximately $20 billion over the last 20 years, with R&D's share of national income rising from 0.5% to 1.46%.
Additionally, Kacir stated that $3 billion in public support has been allocated for data center and artificial intelligence investments under the HIT-30 High Technology Investment Program. The government aims to mobilize at least $10 billion in investment to increase Turkey's installed data center capacity to at least 1 gigawatt by 2030. The summit features participating investment firms representing over $800 billion in capital.
