Turkish entrepreneurship and investment ecosystem growth

Overview

Turkey is expanding its support for startups and innovators through large-scale summits and increased government funding. Events such as the Growtech Antalya 2026 Startup Competition and the 3rd International Export and Investment Summit (ITS 2026) are providing platforms for startups to connect with investors, particularly in sectors like agricultural technology and digital farming. The ITS 2026 has significantly expanded, hosting 300 startups compared to 70 in its inaugural year.

As the ecosystem evolves, there is a strategic shift toward global scalability. Industry experts, including 212 Co-Founder Ali Karabey, note that Turkish startups are increasingly targeting international markets from their inception. Karabey emphasized that being a “Turkey champion” is no longer sufficient, as the goal must be to become a “world champion.”

To facilitate this transition, the government has introduced significant financial measures. Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır announced a new KOSGEB Entrepreneur Support Program offering up to 2.5 million lira in financing, with applications open until October 31. Minister Kacır has set a target of reaching 100,000 technology startups by 2030, aiming for a total valuation of 100 billion dollars for ‘Turcorns’. He also noted that annual R&D spending has grown from $1.2 billion to approximately $20 billion over the last 20 years.

Recent high-level engagement includes the GO! GLOBAL Türkiye Summit in Istanbul, organized by DEIK and Endeavor Türkiye. The summit featured a specialized ‘Limited Partners (LP)/Venture Capital (VC) Day’ to attract international capital. Additionally, $3 billion in public support has been allocated for data center and artificial intelligence investments under the HIT-30 High Technology Investment Program.
