Turkey hosts international media tour ahead of COP31 summit

The Turkish Presidency of Communications and the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change organized the third “Environment and Climate Media Tour” from September 9 to 12 in Ankara and Trabzon. This international media program, titled “On the Way to COP31: Sustainable Future,” serves as a precursor to the COP31 Summit which Turkey is set to host in November.

The program hosted 27 journalists from 17 different countries, including Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, Spain, Argentina, South Korea, China, Azerbaijan, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Hungary, Greece, the Philippines, Poland, India, Serbia, and Morocco. The tour aimed to showcase Turkey’s environmental policies, sustainability vision, and climate change mitigation efforts.

In Ankara, participants visited the Sincan Integrated Solid Waste Facility and the Altındağ Municipality Zero Waste Training Center. These visits highlighted the Zero Waste Project, an initiative launched under the auspices of Emine Erdoğan. In Trabzon, the tour included attendance at the Oceans and Seas Summit, which addressed the impacts of climate change on marine ecosystems, the blue economy, and international cooperation.
