Turkey implements 10% public employment quota for contracted soldiers
The Ministry of Labour and Social Security has announced new implementation details regarding the employment of contracted non-commissioned officers and soldiers in public institutions. Following legal changes to Law No. 6191, a mandatory 10 percent quota will be allocated to these individuals in specific public sector recruitments.
The quota applies to recruitments involving at least 10 positions. This rule includes municipalities and local government associations. Eligible roles include prison and protection officers, neighborhood watchmen, forest guards, administrative supervision personnel, security guards, municipal police, firefighters, drivers, and support staff.
For fractional calculations, quotas will be rounded up if the decimal is 0.5 or higher. Institutions must notify the Ministry of the quotas they have set. Candidates will be placed in the process, with four times the number of determined quotas being invited to oral examinations.
