Turkey’s Education Ministry Rolls Out Teacher Hiring, Transfer and Curriculum Reforms

The Ministry of National Education (MEB) announced that paid‑teacher applications for the 2026‑2027 school year will be accepted in July‑August through e‑Devlet and an online pre‑application form. Applicants must be Turkish citizens, meet health and legal criteria, and hold a relevant teaching degree. Results will be communicated by SMS and posted on the ministry’s website.

MEB also clarified that completing the mandatory seminar evaluation is not required for extra‑lesson pay, but teachers who wish to obtain an e‑certificate must finish the assessment via the MEBBİS platform.

A new digital platform for teacher appointments has been introduced, aiming to streamline placement processes.

In a separate curriculum overhaul, the ministry will replace several historical and geographical terms in textbooks, such as changing “Kurtuluş Savaşı” to “Milli Mücadele” and updating other names to simplify terminology for students.

Kindergarten enrollment for the 2026‑2027 academic year will begin in July through the e‑Kayıt system, with automatic placement based on the address‑based population register. Parents can check assignments via e‑Devlet or e‑Okul.

Finally, the schedule for special‑circumstance teacher transfer applications was released: pre‑applications run 13‑24 July, internal district transfers 27‑29 July (results 30 July), and inter‑province transfers 4‑7 August (results 11 August). Applicants must submit supporting documents for reasons such as family unity, health, safety or disability.
