Turkey implements livestock restrictions and vaccinations to combat foot-and-mouth disease

Authorities in Turkey are implementing strict measures to combat the spread of foot-and-mouth disease among livestock. In Aydın, entry and exit bans have been imposed on 137 neighborhoods and villages across the Efeler, Germencik, İncirliova, Kuşadası, and Köşk districts to contain the outbreak.

In Amasya, a major center for red meat production, officials have closed animal markets until further notice. Vaccination campaigns are underway, with plans to vaccinate over 200,000 head of cattle within one month. The Amasya Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry is leading the effort to prevent significant economic losses caused by the disease, which leads to symptoms such as fever, weight loss, and decreased milk production.
