Turkey imposes two‑way traffic on major highways amid extensive road works

The Turkish General Directorate of Highways announced that ongoing construction, maintenance and repair works are affecting numerous road sections across the country. On the TEM highway between Hendek and Gümüşova (km 0‑11), upper‑structure renewal has led to partial closures, with traffic allowed in both directions on the opposite carriageway. The Ankara‑Konya route (km 28‑31) has its Konya‑Ankara lane closed, while the opposite direction operates as two‑way traffic. Similar arrangements are in place on the Nevşehir‑Kayseri road (km 57‑58), Toprakkale‑İskenderun corridor (km 34‑38), Afyonkarahisar‑Konya stretch (km 92‑95), Muğla‑Denizli segment (km 19‑23), Zonguldak‑Bartın‑Kurucaşile link (km 27‑29), Dereli‑Şebinkarahisar road (km 69‑73) and the Diyarbakır‑Siverek section (km 17‑21). On the Artvin‑Erzurum highway (km 29‑37), traffic is limited to a single lane under control until 17:30. Drivers are repeatedly urged to reduce speed, obey traffic signs and follow the indicated directions.

These measures aim to maintain safe and continuous traffic flow while the works progress, affecting commuters and freight transport on several key national routes.
