Turkey increases public ICT investment to 3.3 billion lira
Public investment in Turkey's information and communication sector reached 3.3 billion lira in the first six months of the year, marking a 314 percent increase compared to the same period last year. According to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure’s “Corporate Financial Status and Expectations Report,” these investments aim to establish critical national infrastructure, support economic growth, and enhance the efficiency of public services.
The largest portion of this spending was directed toward research and development in the information and communication field, which rose from 755 million lira to 2.1 billion lira, a 177 percent increase. Additionally, expenditures for electronic communications, information technologies, e-transformation, and cybersecurity services grew by 89 percent, reaching 66.8 million lira. Investments in universal services and universal postal services saw a significant surge, increasing 180-fold from 6.1 million lira to 1.1 billion lira.
