Turkey Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi urges unity and assesses flood measures in Tokat

Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi toured Tokat's Reşadiye district ahead of upcoming local elections, calling for unity and solidarity and citing the tolerant examples of Hacı Bektaş‑ı Veli and Mevlana. He visited several newly‑elevated villages, urging voters to support the AK Party’s service‑oriented politics.

Later the minister inspected flood‑risk mitigation efforts after successive heavy rains. He met Governor Abdullah Köklü, signed the Valilik honour roll and thanked the disaster‑management agencies. Çiftçi reported that four people were rescued from flood‑waters, two were saved, one body was recovered and a fourth remains missing. The operation involved 161 personnel, eight boats, six drones and roughly 2,000 staff overall, with evacuations of 11 villages and neighbourhoods affecting about 10,000 residents. The minister pledged continued state assistance and highlighted the coordinated work of the governor’s office, AFAD, the State Hydraulic Works and local municipalities.
