Turkey investigates irregular transfer of treasury real estate

An investigation led by the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into the irregular transfer of treasury-owned real estate has resulted in 21 suspects being referred to the courthouse. The operation, centered in the Kemer district, targeted allegations that state properties were transferred to specific individuals without meeting legal requirements regarding ownership, actual usage, or sale conditions.

Simultaneous raids were conducted at 21 addresses across five provinces: Antalya, Adana, Burdur, Isparta, and Nevşehir. Among the 27 individuals initially detained were the Kemer District Land Registry Manager, the Kemer Aspendos National Estate Manager, and a deputy National Estate Manager, along with national estate personnel, former and current neighborhood mukhtars, and civilians. Following questioning by the Kemer District Gendarmerie, six suspects were released, while the remaining 21 were transferred to the Antalya Courthouse under heavy security.

Authorities are currently examining approximately 80 treasury properties involved in the investigation. The estimated market value of these properties is approximately 10 billion Turkish Liras, though the exact amount of public loss is still being determined through expert analysis of transaction dates, market values, and fees collected by the Treasury. Legal measures, including the seizure of assets and the prevention of property transfers, have been implemented.
