Turkey treasury real estate corruption investigation

Overview

An investigation by the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office into the irregular transfer of treasury-owned real estate in the Kemer district has led to significant legal action. The probe focuses on allegations that state properties were transferred to specific individuals without meeting legal requirements regarding ownership, usage, or sale conditions.

Initially, 27 suspects were detained across five provinces: Antalya, Adana, Burdur, Isparta, and Nevşehir. Those detained included public officials, such as the Kemer District Land Registry Manager and various National Estate Managers, as well as neighborhood mukhtars and civilians. Investigators identified evidence of organized coordination between public employees and private individuals involving property and money transfers.

Following questioning, 21 suspects were referred to the courthouse, while six were released. Authorities are examining approximately 80 treasury properties with an estimated market value of roughly 10 billion Turkish Liras. While the exact public loss is still being determined through expert analysis, legal measures including the seizure of assets and the prevention of property transfers have been implemented to protect state interests.
