Turkey investment fund crisis impacts political landscape
A recent survey conducted by ASAL Research and Consultancy identifies the investment fund and stock market crisis as the primary economic concern for Turkish citizens. According to the study, which surveyed 2,020 participants across 28 provinces, 26.5 percent of respondents cited the fund crisis as the most significant issue, surpassing high inflation (22.2 percent) and rising food prices (13.0 percent).
Political implications of the financial instability are also emerging. Representatives from the Yeni Parti claim that the crisis has led to a 6-point decline in support for the ruling AKP, noting that even surveys close to the AKP suggest this drop. The party further alleges that one in six families in Turkey has been affected by the crisis, though the specific criteria for this metric have not been clarified.
