Turkey issues driver warnings as road works and tractor reflector checks expand

The General Directorate of Highways warned motorists that extensive construction, maintenance and repair projects are ongoing on many routes nationwide. In several provinces, lanes have been closed or reduced to single‑track traffic, with detours and two‑way flow on opposite sides of the road. Specific sections cited include the İzmir‑Menemen bypass, the Ankara‑Bala‑Karakeçili road, the Eskişehir‑Kütahya highway, the Elazığ‑Diyarbakır route, and the Antalya‑Alanya stretch, among others.

Meanwhile, police units in Hatay’s Kırıkhan district conducted a reflector inspection aimed at preventing tractor accidents during the harvest season. Officers distributed new reflectors to owners lacking them and reminded drivers of traffic rules. Local farmers praised the initiative, noting that the added visibility improves safety for both agricultural vehicles and other road users.
