Turkey issues yellow‑code rain warnings for 30 provinces amid heavy showers

The Turkish Meteorology General Directorate (MGM) released a yellow‑code alert covering 30 provinces as intense rainstorms moved across the country. The warning highlights the risk of flash floods, landslides, strong winds (40‑60 km/h) and local hail, urging residents to stay vigilant. Forecasts call for heavy thunderstorms in the Marmara, Aegean, Central Anatolia, Black Sea, Eastern Anatolia and Mediterranean regions, with temperatures expected to rise 3‑5 °C in the west and fall 5‑7 °C in the east.

In Kırşehir, the governor reported 56.4 kg of rain per square metre in the past 24 hours and 260 flood alerts, prompting rescue of 22 people without any casualties. Konya recorded up to 61.8 kg of rain in the Meram district, causing traffic disruption and temporary water‑logged streets. In Ordu’s Ünye district, streets were submerged and a retaining wall collapsed, requiring emergency response teams.

Authorities from the Ministry of the Interior, AFAD, local municipalities and disaster agencies have been mobilised to monitor waterways, reinforce riverbanks and assist affected residents. Citizens are advised to avoid low‑lying areas, heed official instructions and prepare for possible power or transport interruptions.
