Turkey Jandarma Officer Yusuf Ergün Killed in Highway Accident, Funeral Held in Kırıkkale
Jandarma Astsubay Üstçavuş Yusuf Ergün, 37, was fatally injured on the Ankara‑Niğde highway when a vehicle struck him while he was clearing tire debris. He was rushed to Gölbaşı State Hospital but died despite medical efforts. Ergün’s body was brought to his hometown of Kırıkkale for burial. A ceremony at Kırıkkale Nur Mosque, followed by interment at the Kırıkkale Martyrs Cemetery, was attended by Interior Ministry Deputy Ali Çelik, Jandarma General Commander Orgeneral Ali Çardakcı, Governor Hüseyin Engin Sarıibrahim, several MPs, the mayor and many citizens. Ergün’s father, Abdullah Ergün, addressed the crowd, saying, “I am also a martyr father,” expressing pride in his son’s sacrifice. Family members and fellow servicemen mourned his loss.
