Turkey Justice Minister addresses investment fund investigations

Turkish Justice Minister Akın Gürlek has provided updates regarding ongoing investigations into investment funds conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Gürlek emphasized that the primary objective is to protect the rights of well-intentioned investors and ensure that returned funds reach their rightful owners.

Addressing the issue of voluntary repayments, the Minister clarified that returning funds does not automatically absolve individuals or legal entities of legal responsibility. He noted that such repayments do not hinder the investigation or the evaluation of evidence. Authorities are meticulously examining the source, timing, and amount of all returned funds to ensure transparency.

To prevent the concealment or transfer of assets, protective measures have been applied to the assets of individuals and entities linked to the investigation. Gürlek stated that additional measures may be implemented as new evidence and documents emerge. The investigations aim to maintain confidence in capital markets and uncover illegal gains in accordance with the directives of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
