Turkish banks launch pilot gold‑selling ATMs across major cities

A pilot programme has begun in Turkey allowing customers to buy certified gram‑gold 24 hours a day from selected bank ATMs. The service uses special gold‑dispensing modules installed in the machines and offers purchases via bank cards, credit cards or QR‑code authentication. The gold sold is produced by the Turkish Mint (Darphane) or other accredited refineries and is delivered in tamper‑proof packages bearing serial numbers, QR codes and holograms. The rollout, approved by the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK), is limited to high‑population metropolitan areas such as Düzce, with plans to expand to the wider national ATM network.

The initiative is presented as a step toward greater financial inclusion, giving citizens access to physical gold even when jewellery shops are closed or outside normal banking hours.
