Turkey launches climate workshops and journalism conference

In preparation for the COP31 United Nations Climate Change Conference, Turkey is launching Youth Climate Workshops across 30 provinces. Organized by the Ministry of National Education, these workshops, scheduled for October 6-8, aim to gather student perspectives on climate policies into a unified text. Key themes include energy transition, renewable energy, climate finance, green economy, biodiversity, and sustainable cities. The initiative is being conducted in collaboration with YOUNGO, the official youth constituency of the UNFCCC, to develop concrete policy recommendations.

Simultaneously, the Turkish Journalists Association (TGC) has launched a Climate Journalism Conference in Istanbul. The two-day event brings together 60 journalists to discuss the multifaceted impacts of the climate crisis, ranging from energy and economy to health and policy. The conference emphasizes that climate issues extend beyond environmental reporting, affecting water security, food production, and urban life, and aims to improve how media outlets cover these critical developments.
