Turkey launches digital vehicle appraisal system and new expert licensing rules

From 1 July, Turkey will automatically assign digital experts for traffic‑accident claims exceeding 40,000 TL. The new system will photograph the damaged vehicles, upload the data to a central platform and calculate repair costs without manual intervention. Officials say this will end the “long file processes, high commissions and loss of rights” that owners and insurers have long complained about. At the same time, the Turkish Trade Ministry has drafted a regulation that makes a TSE (Turkish Standards Institute) certification, a qualified technical manager and mandatory professional‑liability insurance compulsory for all vehicle‑expert centres. The new “Taşıt Ekspertiz Bilgi Sistemi” will embed QR‑code verification in every appraisal report, allowing owners to check authenticity instantly and preventing fake documents. The reforms aim to raise transparency, competition and consumer protection in the second‑hand vehicle market.
