Turkey launches major water treatment plant trial and irrigation dam project
In the town of Osmancık, Çorum Province, a new drinking‑water treatment plant with a capacity of 13,000 cubic metres per day began a 20‑day trial operation. Officials including the President’s water institute chief, the local mayor and senior staff from the State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) inspected the facility and said it will soon supply treated water to the municipal network.
At the same time, the Musacalı Dam in Bergama, İzmir Province was filled and started delivering water to tens of thousands of decares of agricultural land. The project, coordinated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and DSİ, provides modern irrigation for the Bakırçay basin, with officials highlighting its importance for regional food production and drought resilience.
