Turkey begins interim payments for investment fund liquidation

Turkey has commenced interim payments to investors affected by the liquidation of several investment funds. Following the eighth meeting of the Fund Coordination Board, chaired by Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, authorities announced that the number of funds undergoing liquidation has decreased from 131 to 38.

To date, a total of 68 billion TL has been paid to 71,899 accounts through cash and asset transfers. Specifically, regarding funds established by Hedef Portföy Yönetim Şirketi A. Ş., liquidation is largely complete for 27 out of 31 funds, with 27.2 billion TL distributed to 26,152 accounts.

Under Law No. 7596, which entered into force on October 27, 2026, interim payments of up to 1 million TL are being distributed. Priority is being given to funds with “para piyasası” (money market) in their titles. These payments are being facilitated through Ziraat Bankası and Türkiye İş Bankası, and will be deducted from final settlements.

Meanwhile, the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK) continues to conduct investigations into suspected market manipulation, the companies involved, and the actual beneficiaries of the funds, including potential international connections.
