Turkey food prices and winter preparations
In various regions of Turkey, citizens are grappling with the rising cost of living and preparing for winter. In Osmaniye, residents have begun purchasing large quantities of peppers and tomatoes at the local vegetable wholesale market to prepare homemade pastes and preserves. Vendors report that pepper prices range from 23 to 28 lira per kilogram, while tomatoes are priced between 13 and 15 lira per kilogram.
In other provinces, such as Izmir, Artvin, and Konya, residents and retirees expressed significant difficulty meeting basic needs due to high market prices. In Artvin, some citizens noted that prices in the Şavşat district are notably higher than in neighboring provinces. In Konya, discussions at local markets highlighted concerns regarding low wages, pension inadequacy, and the impact of fuel costs on food transportation.
