Turkey observes Veterans Day with nationwide ceremonies

Various regions across Turkey held ceremonies to commemorate September 19 Veterans Day, honoring those who served the nation. Official programs in cities such as Malatya, Mersin, Datça, Kahramanmaraş, Ordu, and Kartal included wreath-laying ceremonies at Atatürk monuments, visits to martyrs' cemeteries, and meetings with veterans and their families.

In some locations, such as Saray, the commemorations featured military displays and equipment exhibitions. In Balıkesir, the day also prompted political discourse, with local veteran association leaders expressing opposition to legislative discussions regarding potential amnesties for terrorist organization members.

Separately, a significant military reform was announced in the Kurdistan Region. Under the supervision of President Nechirvan Barzani, the unification of Peshmerga forces was completed. The reform transitions the previously fragmented 70 and 80 units into a unified national military structure under the direct command of the Peshmerga Ministry, organized into ten military divisions to improve command, control, and administrative efficiency.
