Overview

The Foundation of Police Duty Disabled and Martyrs' Families (EMŞAV) has conducted various programs focused on supporting martyrs' and veterans' families in Turkey. Recent commemorations expanded to include cities like Muğla, Çanakkale, Mersin, Datça, Ordu, and Kartal. In Saray, programs featured military displays and equipment exhibitions, while other regions included visits to martyrs' cemeteries. In Balıkesir, local veteran association leaders expressed opposition to legislative discussions regarding potential amnesties for members of terrorist organizations. Additional ceremonies took place in Niksar, where officials participated in wreath-laying at the Atatürk bust, followed by a march to Kentpark Facilities. In Karşıyaka, the municipality and the Muharip Gaziler Derneği organized a respect march from Hergele Square, which concluded with a musical performance of heroic songs. Representatives from the Türkiye Harp Malulü Gaziler Şehit Dul ve Yetimler Derneği noted that veterans serve as the ‘living memory and honor of the nation.’ To bolster support, the Ministry of Family and Social Services announced the public employment of 571 relatives of martyrs, veterans, and their families. Minister Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş stated that the total number of such individuals employed in the public sector will reach 53,179.
