Turkey minimum wage discussions begin for 2027

Discussions regarding the minimum wage for 2027 have commenced in Turkey, months before the official determination. The current net minimum wage, set at 28,075.50 TL following a 27% increase in 2026, is the baseline for various economic scenarios.

Experts have proposed several potential increase rates. Social Security Specialist Özgür Erdursun anticipates a 25% increase, which would bring the wage to approximately 35,094 TL. Based on the Medium-Term Program (OVP) inflation forecast of 28.4% for the end of 2026, the wage could rise to roughly 36,049 TL. If the 21% inflation target for 2027 is used as a basis, the figure is estimated at 33,971 TL.

Economist Muhammet Bayram has suggested a higher increase in the 30% to 35% range to account for loss of purchasing power and to include a welfare share. This would result in a wage between 36,498 TL and 37,902 TL. The final decision will be made following meetings by the Minimum Wage Determination Commission scheduled for December.
