Turkey Ministry of National Education announces 2026 school updates

The Turkish Ministry of National Education has released details regarding the 2026-2027 academic year, including new transfer regulations and the school calendar.

Under updated primary education regulations, students may apply for school transfers regardless of their residential address in specific circumstances. These exceptions include children of martyrs and veterans, students with special education needs, and those under social services protection. Additionally, transfers without address requirements are permitted for siblings in certain situations, children of school employees, and students enrolled in BİLSEM programs. Parents where both are working, or those facing severe disability or bereavement, may also register children based on the workplace address.

Regarding the academic schedule, orientation week for preschool and first-grade students is set for September 7–11, 2026. This period is designed to help new students adapt to the school environment and reduce anxiety. The full academic year for all other grade levels will officially begin on September 14, 2026.
