Turkey Ministry of National Education faces teacher transfer demands and curriculum reforms

Teachers under the Ministry of National Education (MEB) in Turkey are calling for a second round of inter-city voluntary transfers for 2026. Following the initial transfer period in May 2026, educators are using social media to advocate for increased quotas and a new application window, citing the fact that a second transfer period was opened in 2025 as a precedent.

Simultaneously, significant changes are being implemented in the Turkish education system through the ‘Turkey Century Maarif Model’. For the 2026-2027 academic year, a revised curriculum is being rolled out across preschool, primary, middle, and high school levels. The new model aims to shift from rote learning to a skill- and value-based system, incorporating modern themes such as climate change, astronomy, and space sciences into core subjects like mathematics, physics, and biology.
