Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan convene military meeting amid Houthi attacks

The military chiefs of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan are convening an urgent meeting to discuss defense support for the Kingdom following escalated Houthi attacks on Saudi territory. This move is being conducted under the framework of the Mecca Defense Pact, signed on August 7, 2026, which stipulates that an armed attack on one member nation is considered an attack on all three.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan expressed Turkey's readiness to provide military assistance, specifically in technical areas, to protect Saudi sovereignty and territorial integrity. He noted that the process of transforming the pact into a formal institutional structure, including the establishment of a General Secretariat and a military headquarters, is nearing completion. Pakistan is expected to hold the presidency of the General Secretariat for an initial three-year period.

The meeting follows recent Houthi missile strikes. The Coalition for Supporting Legitimacy in Yemen reported the interception and destruction of six ballistic missiles launched by Houthi forces, including attempts to target the cities of Taif and Yanbu.
