Turkey olive oil exports drop 62% in volume
Turkish olive oil exports have experienced a significant decline. According to data from the Aegean Olive Oil Exporters' Association, between November 1, 2025, and August 31, 2026, export volumes fell by 62% compared to the same period in the previous season.
In terms of value, exports dropped by 59%. While the average unit price per kilogram rose from $4.98 to $5.42, the total revenue fell from $231.6 million in the 2024/2025 season to $96 million in the 2025/2026 season. Bulk olive oil exports saw a 73% decrease, while packaged exports fell by 50%.
Metin Ergun, an İYİ Party Muğla deputy, emphasized the need for stable agricultural policies. He argued that Turkey should focus on branded and value-added exports rather than raw products to maintain international competitiveness and protect producers and exporters.
