Turkey opposition blames AKP debt spiral as ruling party vows permanent wage hikes

CHP Istanbul MP Özgür Karabat accused the ruling AKP of deepening Turkey’s debt spiral and using high‑interest borrowing to finance past debt, warning that future repayments may soon lack sufficient funds. He claimed the government suppresses debate through judicial operations and argued that the country’s economic vulnerability is being exploited by external powers, citing alleged pressure from the United States and Israel.

MHP deputy Mustafa Kalaycı, speaking at a program in Konya, promoted the “Terörsüz Türkiye” project, saying Turkey is on a path toward becoming a global power. He announced that, if inflation eases, salary increases for civil servants, retirees and the minimum‑wage earners will become permanent, presenting the measures as part of a broader strategy for national stability and prosperity.
