Turkey opposition leaders push 'Terror‑Free Turkey' framework law

Zafer Party leader Ümit Özdağ urged Turkish citizens to unite in defending the Republic, warning that extremist groups and foreign agendas threaten national unity. He framed the "Terörsüz Türkiye" (terror‑free Turkey) initiative as part of a broader Middle‑East strategy and called for resistance against perceived attempts to fragment the state.

DEM Party co‑leader Tuncer Bakırhan called on parliament to adopt a comprehensive framework law to anchor the Democratic Society and Peace Process in law. He argued the law must be clear, inclusive and free from security‑based interpretations, giving the public confidence in returning home and ensuring lasting peace. Bakırhan stressed that a robust framework law is essential for legal certainty, societal trust and the continuation of the peace effort.
