Turkey police launch nationwide raids on terrorist suspects
Security forces carried out simultaneous operations across Istanbul, Ankara and six other provinces, targeting members of several extremist groups including DHKP‑C, DEAŞ, TKP/ML, MLKP and others. Authorities raided 46 locations, detained 209 suspects and seized large amounts of organisational documents and digital material.
In a separate raid in Ankara’s Haymana district, special police units stormed a house used by DEAŞ operatives. A gunfight resulted in the death of a male suspect and the capture of his injured wife. Investigators linked the deceased to instructions issued via TikTok, uncovering his communication with a senior DEAŞ leader.
The operations are part of an ongoing crackdown on terrorism in Turkey, with additional arrests and investigations continuing.
