Turkey poll projects Özgür Özel's new party could top vote, AK Party second

A May 2026 Sonar Research poll asked Turkish voters how they would vote if Özgür Özel founded a new party. In that scenario the new party captured 32.7% of the vote, placing first, while the AK Party fell to 27.1%. The next‑largest parties were MHP (8.8%), DEM (8.3%), and İYİ (8.2%).

A separate face‑to‑face survey by TÜSAM in Konya interviewed 3,170 residents. The poll showed the AK Party at 31.2% and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) at 10.8%, together accounting for 42% of the city’s total vote share. The Yeniden Refah Party (YRP) came second with 17.4%, followed by the CHP (10.1%) and İYİ Party (6.1%). Smaller parties each received between 4% and 5% of the vote.
