Antalya to host COP31 UN climate summit in November 2026

Turkey is preparing to host the 31st Conference of the Parties (COP31) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Antalya from November 9 to 20, 2026. The summit will take place across a 1.1 million square meter area, including a Blue Zone for official negotiations and a Green Zone for public events.

COP31 President and Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change Murat Kurum announced that 85 heads of state and government have confirmed their participation. Additionally, approximately 300 ministers are expected to attend, and around 3,000 journalists have been accredited. The event is projected to attract nearly 1.5 million visitors and generate approximately $2 billion in direct economic activity for Antalya.

The summit's agenda focuses on implementation, with ten priority topics including zero waste, clean energy transition, food security, and ocean protection. A key goal is to increase the share of electricity in final energy consumption to 35% by 2035. To raise awareness, a special English song titled “Let’s COP” has been released, featuring footage of Turkey’s natural landscapes.
