Turkey promotes summer hydration with natural drink recipes and electrolyte advice

Health experts in Turkey highlighted the need for increased fluid intake during the hot summer months. One guide presented seven easy-to‑make natural beverage recipes—including lemon‑mint water, strawberry cold drink, watermelon juice, cucumber detox water, peach iced tea, homemade ayran, and fruit‑soda mix—intended as healthier alternatives to sugary sodas.

Another report emphasized that adults should aim for 2 to 2.5 litres of water daily, spreading consumption throughout the day. It warned that intense heat, prolonged exercise, vomiting, diarrhea, or fever can cause significant electrolyte loss. Specialists advised using electrolyte‑rich drinks only in such situations and cautioned certain groups—people with hypertension, kidney disease, heart failure, or liver cirrhosis—against high‑sodium or high‑potassium solutions. A simple home electrolyte recipe (water, lemon juice, honey, and a pinch of rock salt) was also provided.
