Turkey proposes veteran income boost to 253,000 TL per month

The Turkish Parliament is set to consider a law amendment that would raise the monthly income of 1st‑degree veterans to roughly 253,000 TL. The package includes an 85,000 TL veteran salary, 70,187 TL home‑care allowance, 70,224 TL civil‑service salary, a 23,000 TL contribution from the Mehmetçik Foundation and a 4,583 TL tobacco subsidy. The proposal also allocates 28,076 TL per month to veterans of the 15 July coup attempt and increases monthly payments for martyr parents, with amounts ranging from 14,037 TL to 21,500 TL depending on prior benefits. Additional reforms raise the age for re‑examination of disability grades from 40 to 55 and set new salary bands for veterans of lower disability levels, ranging from about 58,590 TL to 86,000 TL. Lawmakers aim to place the bill on the agenda before the parliamentary recess, seeking enactment before the session ends.
