Turkey ranks second in Europe for foundry industry production capacity
At the 76th World Foundry Congress held in Istanbul, Turkish officials highlighted the nation's growing dominance in the global foundry sector. Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat reported that Turkey's production capacity has reached 3 million tons, positioning the country as the second-largest producer in Europe and the seventh largest globally.
In 2025, production reached 2.3 million tons with a value of approximately 8 billion euros. Of this, 1.64 million tons—representing 71% of volume and 76% of value—was exported, totaling 6.1 billion euros. The industry serves as a critical supplier for strategic sectors including automotive, defense, aerospace, white goods, energy, and machinery manufacturing.
Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır emphasized the sector's role in modern manufacturing, noting its connection to advancements in electric vehicles, robotics, and renewable energy. To support the industry's green and digital transformation, the government is implementing mechanisms such as the Turkey Green Industry Project, a $450 million initiative conducted in cooperation with the World Bank.
