Turkey ranks first in European crude steel production

Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat announced that Turkey has become the leading producer of crude steel in Europe, with a production volume of 38.1 million tons. This figure places the country seventh globally.

In terms of exports, Turkey ranks among the world's top ten steel exporters, generating $17.1 billion in export value. The sector maintains a significant global presence, reaching over 200 countries and regions, with 42.3% of its exports directed toward the European Union.

To strengthen the industry, the Ministry of Trade is supporting various initiatives, including 39 projects aimed at global supply chain integration and 38 companies participating in the 'Responsible Program' for green transformation. Minister Bolat also emphasized efforts to protect the sector's rights and ensure fair competition amidst rising global protectionist trends, particularly in discussions with the European Union.
